Why It Matters

Coverage that actually holds up.

Because nobody ever sat down with them to explain what the numbers actually mean. That’s what we do differently.

it’s just rarely explained well. A standard policy is built from several distinct coverage types, and each one protects you against a different kind of risk. The problem is that most people buy a policy online, get a number that fits their budget, and never fully understand what they have — or more importantly, what they don’t have.

At Tate Insurance Group, we take the time to walk through your existing coverage, identify the gaps, and build a policy that reflects your actual life. Whether you have one car or five, drive forty thousand miles a year or barely leave the driveway the right policy isn’t the cheapest one. It’s the one that performs when you need it.

Richard Tate holds a degree in risk management and has spent years advising individuals,
families, and businesses on protecting what matters most. His team is available by
phone, in person, or by email and when you call, a real person answers.

Multi-Vehicle & Bundling Discounts

Most families have more than one car and many have teen drivers entering the picture. Managing separate policies with separate carriers means missed savings and potential gaps between your coverages.

When you bundle your auto insurance with your home policy through Partners Insurance, you unlock multi-policy discounts, simplify your renewals, and ensure your coverages actually work together not against each other.

Carrier Choice

Liability is the foundation of any auto policy and in Alabama & Georgia, it's required by law. It covers bodily injury and property damage you cause to others in an at- fault accident. State minimums exist, but they're almost always too low to protect your assets in a serious collision. Richard's first conversation with new clients is always about whether their limits reflect their actual exposure.

Collision Coverage

Collision pays to repair or replace your vehicle after a crash regardless of who caused it. If you're financing or leasing, your lender requires it. Even if you own your car outright, collision is often worth carrying on newer or higher- value vehicles. The key variable is your deductible: the higher it is, the lower your premium, but the more you absorb out of pocket after a claim.

Comprehensive Coverage

Comprehensive covers everything collision doesn't theft, vandalism, hail, flooding, fire, and animal strikes. In Alabama & Georgia, where deer crossings and severe weather events are real risks, comprehensive is rarely optional for anyone who can't afford to replace their vehicle overnight. It's typically one of the most affordable add-ons on your policy.

Uninsured Motorist

Alabama & Georgia has one of the highest rates of uninsured drivers in the country. Uninsured motorist coverage (UM/UIM) protects you when someone without adequate insurance causes an accident with you. Without it, you could be left holding the bill for your own medical care and vehicle repair after a crash that wasn't your fault. It's one of the most important and most overlooked coverage types.

Richard at All State was amazing to work with & he ensured I got the best rates for Home & Auto insurance. I would highly recommend him for any new policy or renewals.

Have never experienced this level of outstanding service before from Richard Tate and his entire team. I submitted a coverage change request today and it was handled within a few minutes. Hard to believe how much money we saved by switching to Allstate. So glad we selected Richard as our agent. So professional but so personable at the same time.

Michael Miller

Richard and his staff were very helpful in making sure I had proper insurance for my: home, vehicles, and a personal umbrella. I would highly recommend if you are interested in the best service with competitive pricing.

Dave Holman

Spent a long time speaking to Jacob today. He explained the intricacies of the home and auto policies and matched Allstate policies with my current insurance policy and rates. His policy (Home & Auto) savings were significant. Thank You Jacob.

Dennis McLevaine

Hands down, in the 30+ years I’ve owned homes and vehicles, this is the best insurance provider experience I’ve ever had. Between taking calls/texts at night and on weekends, Richard has always been there to help. “You’re in GREAT hands” if you allow Richard’s agency to work for you.

Common Questions

Questions worth asking.

The questions most people wish they'd asked before they needed to file a claim. We answer them here — and in person.

Both states require drivers to carry liability coverage. Alabama minimums are $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident for bodily injury, plus $25,000 for property damage. Georgia requires the same structure. The important thing to understand is that minimum coverage only protects other people, not you or your vehicle. We walk every client through what actually makes sense for their situation beyond the legal minimum.

Both states have significant numbers of uninsured drivers on the road. Without uninsured motorist coverage, you'd largely be on your own for your injuries and vehicle damage if the at-fault driver has no insurance. This is one of the most important coverages to carry in Alabama and Georgia, and one of the first things we make sure our clients have in place.

Collision covers damage to your vehicle from an accident with another car or object. Comprehensive covers everything else: theft, vandalism, hail, fallen trees, hitting a deer, and similar events. Both come with a deductible you choose. If your vehicle is financed or leased, your lender almost certainly requires both. If your car is paid off, we can help you figure out whether keeping both still makes financial sense.

It depends on your driving record, your vehicles, where you live, your age, and the coverage you choose. Alabama rates tend to run lower than the national average, but that changes quickly if you have accidents or violations. The only number that matters is the one based on your specific situation. Call us and we can give you a real picture, not a ballpark estimate built for someone else.

Yes. In most cases we can get you covered the same day you call, sometimes within the hour. Whether you're buying a new vehicle, switching from another carrier, or getting insured for the first time, call us at 334-521-8144 and we will take care of it.

It depends on your policy. Many auto policies extend your liability and collision coverage to a rental car, but the specific terms vary. Some policies also include rental reimbursement to cover the cost of a rental while your vehicle is being repaired after a covered loss. Worth confirming before you assume you are covered at the rental counter.

You can buy online, but you might miss things that matter when it is time to file a claim. A real agent reviews your situation, makes sure your limits are right, and is there when something happens. We have seen what happens when people piece together the cheapest policy they can find and then try to use it. Getting it right the first time costs less in the long run.
